As human being everyone goes through it and it is the part of life. The thing is how you cope up with this and overcome stress and depression. Sometimes it is quite easy and sometimes it is extremely difficult to manage and recover from it. You get stress from work, from family, from friends, and from the things that annoys you and eventually all these stress lead you towards depression. Depression does not grow alone but it is a long term process from small stresses that you get daily and piles up in your living.



What is Stress

According to MedicalEncyclopedia stress is defined as follows, "Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension, It can come from any event or thoughts that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body's reaction to a challenge or demand. In short burst, stress can be positive, such as when it helps you to avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts a long time, it may harm your health."

As defined, stress can be physical or emotional. Physical stress is often recoverable, however, emotional stress is very dangerous and it may cause you suffering a lot and lead towards a long term depression. And these feelings can make it more difficult to deal with things and people you surround by. An emotional stress not only impacts your mental health, it also destroys your physical health very quickly and makes you unhealthier.



What are the signs of stress

Everybody experience stress and it can differ by people in different situations. Sometimes you already know it that you are going through a stress or sometimes it gives you inside pain that before you know it drags you down the ground without recognizing it. There are signs of stress that how you might feel:

  • You feel anxious, nervous, or afraid

  • Forgetfulness

  • Unable to enjoy the moment

  • Irritation

  • You feel aggressive and impatient

  • You feel extremely tired

  • You react quickly and aggressively

  • You feel headache

  • You feel over-burdened and lonely

  • You get digestion problem

  • You gain or loss weight

  • You feel nobody loves you

  • Constantly worrying and feel un-secure




What can cause stress

When you are in too much stress it impacts in your habits. You start doing unusual things that you have never done before and find yourself consuming new habits mostly unhealthy that is both dangerous for physical and mental health. Feelings of stress are normally triggered by things in your life which involves:

  • Heavy or excessive consumption of alcohol

  • Being under a lot of pressure

  • Worrying about uncertainties

  • Not getting enough exercise

  • Spending too much time on watching TV or playing video games

  • Smoking too much

  • Facing big changes




How to overcome it

It is not always possible to avoid stress, but taking steps to do so may help. Stress relief can also help prevent depressive symptoms from developing. It may also help to reduce the amount of stress that leads to depression. You may go through these process to overcome or relief stress not to feel depressed.

  • Getting enough sleep

  • Eating a healthy diet

  • Taking a break from work

  • Travel more whenever have time

  • Read more on motivational topics

  • Work out regularly and sweat more from your body

  • Consume less caffein and alcohol

Other activities such as yoga or meditation can help you to reduce stress. Even attending group activities like religious gathering, group discussion activities can help you a lot to overcome stress and depression. To relief from depression you need to talk to the right person with the right topics that will help to reduce the amount of it and eventually help you to recover from it.
