Self-Doubt and how to overcome it

What is self-doubt

I can not do it. I can not do that. I do not have the abilities to accomplish it. I don’t have the confidence to pass the exam. I am not the right person for the job they are hiring. What people will think about me if I do this and speak this. We all are familiar with those type of low key words and under self-estimation. Put a big wall in front of us and play a victim to keep us safe and suffer. These all are examples of self-doubt.

How it causes you

You listen to too many people, to your friends, to your family, to many irrelevant people you meet accidentally. You gather a lot of information that seriously affects your decision making process. You only listen to negative talks and are motivated by negative directions only. It causes you not to move out of our comfort zone, makes you try something new, takes a challenge to face, discourages you from using some energy.

You start comparing yourself with others instead of focusing on self-improvement. You become too calculative and measure the negative results only. That eventually drives your willingness towards nowhere.

How to overcome self-doubt

There are many ways to overcome self-doubt. I myself rewarded myself many times by believing in them and working on it regularly.

  • Have self-confidence: You must believe in yourself that you can do better. Start small to grow your self-confidence. It never grows with the big things at the beginning. Small things bring small results and it grows your level of confidence slowly. Self-confidence is something that can bring tremendous success in your life. Focus on small targets, accomplish them, make a note and mark the timeline. Every small positive result will help you to grow your self-confidence.

  • Have your cheerleading squad: These people are your best buddies and always cheer you up when you are down or having a lot of distractions. They are your family members, your parents, your children, and or your spouse. They are always around you and know everything about your situations. Be thankful to have them in your life and share every moment that is good or bad and enjoy everything together whatsoever. Let our cheerleaders know what’s going on in your mind.

  • Keep your Ego in Check: See yourself as a full time student all the time. Never try to play smart or act like you know everything. If something bad happens to you or you find something unusual just forgive and let it go. Forgive people who hurt you, or wronged you. Do not race with people who are doing better than you. Accept, praise and move on and learn the best lessons from anything. The best way to check in your ego is to surrender and set yourself free from everything.

  • Compare yourself with no one: Everybody is unique and different. You are you and he is he or she is she. Try to become the best version of yourself and do your best in every field. From the day you start comparing yourself with others will become the day of your self defeat. Work on your skills and chin up for yourself, clear your head by removing all distractions.

  • Put in the work: You do not need to be the best, just do your best. You do not need to have tons of skills or abilities but you need to work on improving them. Work out, exercise and try to be the best version of yourself. To start doing an important task, you do not need to have all the information. You just need to go through the process, and it will give you the information you need to accomplish the task. Just put in all your effort and do not panic if something goes wrong. Most of the time we all think and say, before doing anything great, do a research but I would say, do the research and do not spend all of your time and energy only on researching. You must apply and put your best effort on the project.

You can also listen to motivational podcasts on a daily basis to learn something new. Read daily on self-improvement topics, ask guidance to the experts if you are in a dilemma. Once you have decided to work on yourself you’ll find the ways better.
